The person

Hi, I'm Christy (she/her/hers). I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio; and grew up on the west side of town. I've always had a passion for working with children since I was young, and it naturally developed into a desire to support our youth and families in helping them see the best parts of themselves.

On most days you can find me sitting around a campfire, in a hammock, hiking, playing board games, reading a book, or stargazing with my family and friends. I am a huge Cincinnati Bearcats fan, and love all things Cincinnati. I think we have one of the most beautiful skylines in the world, and won't pass up a chance to drive north on 71/75 in northern Kentucky, through the cut in the hill, to see it.

I have been working with children and families as a social worker since 2004, and entered the world of Adventure Therapy at that time. I am a Certified Clinical Adventure Therapist (what's this?), and am currently serving as the Chair for the Therapeutic Adventure Professional Group, a subgroup of The Association for Experiential Education (click here to learn more about this professional group).

I am trained in Child Development and Mental Health, using mostly Adventure Therapy in my daily work with clients. You can find me working with folx as young as 8, to emerging adults around age 25; as well as families.

I use a client-centered approach to my work with folx, as no one knows you better than you know yourself. My hope is to help you see your strengths, and to thrive in them.

I am an Independently Licensed Social Worker, with a supervision designation, from the state of Ohio. I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work specializing in Children and Families, from The University of Cincinnati, in 2008. I also spent two years at Capital University, in Bexley, Ohio, earning my Bachelor of Social Work Degree in 2006.
